Sign Up Now for SEDCorp’s Business Boot Camp Jan 26-28

Last winter, for the first time in over ten years of working in publishing, I found myself in a lull.  I realized that to continue to be competitive in my field I not only needed to be honing my writing and marketing skills with additional courses, but developing an entirely new skill set with business and finance classes.

On a whim, I signed up for the Sierra Economic Development Corporation’s FREE 3-day Business Boot Camp, and it completely changed how I thought about myself, the services I offered and the value of these services.

Even for this seasoned writer, the thought of creating a strategic business plan at first seemed daunting and was probably my biggest hang up, but with the help of SEDCorp’s knowledgeable and professional instructors we covered market analysis, marketing strategies, finances, business law, pitfalls of small business and I was able to finish my business plan.  Instruction is done both in an intimate setting of thirty or so peers and one-on-one individual counseling.  I was also fortunate to connect with a network of young professionals who were for the most part in the same boat as me and have since collaborated with many of them on projects.

Business Boot Camp is geared for the serious business owner, entrepreneurs and start-up businesses.

The Business Boot Camps are scheduled for Auburn, January 26-27-28 and Placerville, February 23-24-25.    Boot Camp will be from 8 AM – 8 PM on days 1 & 2, and from 8 AM – 5 PM on day 3, with lunch, dinner and homework included.

Boot Camp is prepaid by the Golden Sierra Job Training Agency and, therefore, is free to participants who attend.  So what have you got to lose?    Don’t delay – enlistment is restricted by class size and each class fills up fast!

The Business Boot Camp is funded by the Golden Sierra Job Training Agency.  This One-Stop Career Center is available to employers and job seekers alike.  The Center is designed to provide workforce preparation services to job seekers increasing the employment, employment retention, and earnings of the local workforce.  In addition, the One-Stops provide services to businesses that will enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the local and regional economy.

In cooperation with the Golden Sierra Job Training Agency, SEDCorp is still taking “enlistments” for the Business Boot Camp.  For more information and an Enlistment Form click here.
